Recurrent Submandibular Gland Swelling as the Initial Presentation of SjogrenÊs Syndrome

Erythema marginatum is an annular eruption with round or serpiginous border. It has an evanescent, erythematous and slightly raised macules with a sharply demarcated and irregular border. The erythematous areas often have a pale centre. The rash commonly occurs over the trunk and inner aspects of upper arms and thighs, but never on face. The rash is non painful and rarely pruritic and typically appears in crops lasting hours to several days. The rash blanches on pressure and is a transient rash that tends to migrate from place to place. It is seen in early stages of rheumatic fever though not pathognomic of it. It is also seen in conditions like allergic drug reactions, sepsis and glomerulonephritis.

Our case was 54 years male who had diabetes mellitus Type II, COPD, acute renal failure with septicemia due to Staphylococcus aureus.
